PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT
(POPI)
The Protection of Personal Information Act came into effect on 1st July 2021.
Solasafe is committed to protecting clients’ privacy and recognises that it needs to comply with statutory requirements in collecting, processing and distributing of personal information. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa provides that everyone has the right to privacy, and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPI”) includes the right to protection against unlawful collection, retention, dissemination and use of personal information. In terms of Section 18 of POPI, if personal information is collected, Solasafe, as the responsible party, must take practical steps to ensure that you, the client, is made aware of the information being collected.
Solasafe will

only collect personal information for the purposes of doing business with you and will use the information for that purpose only;

take reasonable measures to keep your personal information secure;

only retain your personal information for as long as is necessary or in accordance with applicable laws;

never sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances.
You have the right to view and request a copy of any of your personal information held by Solasafe by contacting Solasafe’s Information Officer.
